Overview
Established in 1936, Corbett is India's oldest national park and one of its most dramatic — river valleys, grasslands and sal forest rising into the Himalayan foothills, with wild elephants alongside tigers.
Why visit
Corbett is about grandeur as much as sightings: the Ramganga river, the vast Dhikala grasslands and elephant herds against a mountain backdrop give it a scale no other reserve matches.

Tiger, Asian elephant, leopard, gharial, mugger crocodile, otter, hog deer and over 600 recorded bird species.
Landscape
River valleys, chaurs (grasslands), sal forest and foothill ridges from around 400 to 1,200 metres.
Best time to visit
Typically open mid-November to June; Dhikala zone opens later than the buffer areas. Exact opening dates and zone availability are confirmed at the time of booking.
How to reach
Approx. 6 hrs by road from Delhi, or overnight train to Ramnagar. Dehradun airport is approx. 4 hrs.

Is Corbett good for tigers?+
Tiger density is high, but the terrain is dense and sightings are harder-won than in Central India. Corbett rewards patience with atmosphere.
Can I stay inside the park?+
Forest rest houses at Dhikala allow overnight stays inside the core. Availability is limited and released in advance.
Will I see elephants?+
Wild elephant herds are a highlight, particularly around the Ramganga and Dhikala grasslands.
